How Poulsil works: the science behind its benefits
How Poulsil Works:
- Collagen Synthesis: Supports bone, cartilage, and connective tissue strength.
- Bone Mineralization: Enhances bone density, reducing fractures and leg disorders.
- Egg Quality: Strengthens eggshells and vitelline membranes, improving hatchability.
- Feed Efficiency: Optimizes feed conversion, boosting growth and productivity.
- Animal Welfare: Reduces skeletal issues, promoting healthier, more active birds.
Poulsil’s patented mesoporous silica formulation ensures superior silicium bioavailability, maximizing benefits for poultry growth, performance, and welfare.
Experience enhanced egg quality through Poulsil,
which bolsters vitelline membrane rigidity and rupture force, resulting in eggs that are stronger and more resilient.

Case Studies
Farmers and Experts Trust Poulsil
In a study conducted in Belgium, supplementing Poulsil (150 g/ton) to the feed of broiler breeders from 22 to 30 weeks resulted in a significant reduction in the percentage of cracked eggs.
The control group had a cracked egg percentage of 2.67%, while the Poulsil group had 1.78% at week 30.
Fewer cracked eggs mean less need for culling, which leads to increased profits and demonstrates Poulsil’s contribution to improving eggshell strength.
4.
In a study at Poulpharm, broiler chickens were divided into four groups. Three groups (T02-T04) received varying amounts of silicium in their feed, while the control group (T01) received none.
The groups with higher silicium concentrations showed a significant improvement in bone fracture force, indicating stronger and healthier bones. The fracture force of the bones was as follows:
- T01 (Control): 365.9
- T02: 332.3
- T03: 412.9*
- T04: 403.1*
(*Statistically significant, p<0.05)
3.
Poulsil supplementation improved the static stiffness of eggshells in broiler breeders between 22 and 30 weeks of age in a study in Belgium.
The treatment group showed a significantly higher eggshell stiffness compared to the control group, meaning the eggshells were more resistant to breaking or cracking.
This is crucial for protecting the developing embryo, especially during handling and incubation.
- Control: 134.9 (N/mm)
- Poulsil: 137.7 (N/mm)
2.
A Philippines field trial showed that Poulsil administration (weeks 52-57) reduced the average percentage of cracked and shell-less eggs from 1.11% (control) to 0.61%.
This improvement leads to less culling, increased profits, and stronger eggshells.
